During our June AML/CFT Membership Group meeting, Kevin went over some common errors associated with completing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs). Given the sheer amount of information institutions are required to complete on a CTR, it’s easy for errors to be made. These might include incorrect aggregation of transaction, incorrect business type, incorrect transaction type, late filing, etc.
One area that can trip institutions up is “who” to complete a Part 1 on when cash deposits or withdrawals are made to/from a joint account.
