If you’ve been in the mortgage industry for any amount of time, you’ve likely heard of RESPA Section 8 and its prohibition on referrals. Keep in mind, however, that it only applies to certain referrals.

• If you refer a customer to a service provider, ensure you're not getting anything in exchange for that referral.
