The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act …is a law created to provide extra protections for servicemembers in the event that legal or financial transactions adversely affect their rights during military or uniformed service. These protections enable servicemembers to devote their entire energy to the defense needs of the Nation. The protections are available to active duty servicemembers (and their dependents) and apply to certain loans and leases entered into before active-duty status. Servicemembers belong to one of the six branches of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force and the Coast Guard) and some others you might not expect.
