Frontline personnel play a very important role within an institution’s BSA/AML/CFT Program. Tellers, customer service representatives, loan officers etc., serve as the eyes and ears of the institution. The BSA Officer/BSA Department can’t effectively carry out their duties without information. While the tellers may not complete the actual Currency Transaction Report, they often have to collect information from the customer. If no one reports that a customer’s activity seems suspicious, it can’t be further investigated to determine if a Suspicious Activity Report should be filed. The flow of information between the frontline and those in the back office helps ensure all reporting requirements are met.
