FDIC Signage Reminders
During our most recent “Deposit Compliance Q & A FREE Forum”, we received a lot of questions regarding the new FDIC signage requirements. The changes themselves were a little confusing to begin with and that was before the regulators began delaying things. The end result of the chaos was three different effective dates.
The first effective date was actually back on January 1, 2025, and included the changes to Subpart B of Part 328 (False Advertising, Misrepresentation of Insured Status, and Misuse of the FDIC's Name or Logo).
The second effective date was May 1, 2025. This included requirements related to signage required in insured deposit-taking areas; non-deposit product signage and segregation of non-deposit product areas from insured deposit-taking areas; advertising and policies/procedures.
The third effective date is March 1, 2026. This is for use of the official digital sign for digital deposit taking channels. It also addresses signage requirements for ATMs. There’s a possibility we could see additional changes to these requirements before the effective date.
Jerod discussed these effective dates in more depth.
