New Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form

You might recall that back in October 2021, there was a lot of confusion surrounding an SFHDF that appeared on FEMA’s website. This apparently updated form appeared without any announcement or notice from FEMA, had typos, there was no OMB number, and was nearly impossible to download. There really was no guidance surrounding this update, and then crickets…until recently.

A client recently pointed out that it appears FEMA has an updated SFHDF on its website again. As before, there has been no announcement from FEMA. This time, however, this fillable form contains an OMB number which indicates it’s an approved form. While there do not appear to be any major changes, the expiration date is now 9-30-23.

Please note, if you have trouble accessing the form, you may need to try a different web browser or contact your IT department.

FEMA’s website instructs you to contact your regulator regarding when the use of the new form will be required. Once you make that determination, we recommend you check with your vendor when they will begin using the new form.
